Mechanix

Mechanics is rapidly changing. For example, although this was an auto smelter in v1.2, in v1.3 textures are so different if you tried to follow along you'd get totally lost!

What is Mechanix?

Mechanix is a new tech mod I am working on and have very huge aspirations for as a long term project! The goal is to give fabric a fully featured tech mod, as fabric has very few tech options. Below you can learn how to use the various blocks and items this mod provides.

Some Mechanix components come in 4 tiers. These lowest tier is standard, which usually has no prefix, followed by gilded, then vysterium, and finally neptunium. The color scheme of each theme is illustrated below.

The Cable

The cable is a very simple block: Simply put, it allows you to transmit power between a network of machines! If any two blocks are connected by cables, they are capable of transmiting power to each other!

Its easy to tell if cable will be useful in transmitting power to a block: If it connects to the block, it is able to!

Cable Tiers:
Standard: 25 kJ/tick

Gilded: 100 kJ/tick

Vysterium: 300 kJ/tick

Neptunium: 1 MJ/kick

The Energy Cell

The energy cell is great for storing extra extra energy you generate to use later! You can quickly glance at how full an energy cell is based on how much of the side of the cell is glowing!

If the side of an energy cell is orange, it will transmit power from that side.

If the side of an energy cell is blue, it will recieve power from that side.

The gauge on the left side of its screen simply shows this method in an alternative way.

It is easy to configure which sides are orange and which are blue: Simply click on the icons on the right panel of the screen to toggle between output and input mode.

Transfer Rate: 25 kJ/tick, 75 kJ/tick, 250 kJ/tick, 750 kJ/tick

Storage: 100 MJ, 500 MJ, 1.5 GJ, 5 GJ

The Item Pipe

The Item pipe provides a much easier way to transmit items than the vanilla hopper. The Item pipe will instantly transmit items from a container to the nearest connected container it is able to input to. It can transmit two items per second.
By default, item pipes can only output to connected containers but not extract items from them. In order to extract from a container, you'll need to attach a servo to that face of the pipe by right clicking while holding a servo!
Remember machines can input and output items from all sides based on their configuration, so don't feel limited to vanilla mechanics!
Also, shift right click while holding a wrench to toggle round robin mode!

The Fuel Generator

The fuel generator is a simple yet effective way of generating power: Feed it coal, or any other furnace fuel, and it will generate power at a rate of 20 kJ/tick. This power can be used to power machines or can be stored in energy cells by connecting it via contact or pipes.

Unlike the energy cell, the panel on the right side of a fuel generator's screen controls which sides can input or output items. The fuel generator always outputs energy from all sides.

The Powered Furnace

The powered furnace is an alternative to the vanilla furnace. It offers a lot more customization with regards to automation, and runs on energy rather than fuel. It requires 15 kJ/tick to run. Just like the the fuel generator, its configuration panel controls which sides can input or output items (blue = input, orange = output).

Remember that this system is not the same as vanilla! For example, you could input from the bottom and output out the top if that's what your space permitted. Just remember to add servos if using item pipes when extracting.

The Fluid Tank

The fluid tank lets you store fluids, as vanilla currently lacks this functionality outside of the not-so-useful cauldron.

Right click with empty buckets to take fluid. Click with a filled bucket to fill the tank.

You can toggle which sides can input/output fluid in its GUI. Same rules as always, blue is input and orange is output!

Tiers:

Standard: 16B, Gilded: 64B, Vysterium: 256B, Neptunium: 1.024B

The Fluid Pipe

The fluid pipe can transfer 50 mB of fluid per tick (millibuckets), so that is equivalent to 1 bucket per second! The fluid pipe works in the same way as the item pipe: Connect it to a fluid tank to output into the tank or connect it with a servo to input from that tank!

Remember to configure your tank to input & output from the right sides to ensure everything works properly!

Tiers: Standard: 50 mB/tick, Gilded: 150 mB/tick, Vysterium: 500 mB/tick, Neptunium: 1.5 B/tick

The Wrench

An essential item! Can be used to break up connections between adjacent pipes to allow for more compact creations while still separating fluids and items from each other! Right click to do this, and look at a pipe while holding to gain insight on whether that face of the pipe can connect currently!

Lastly, shift right click an item pipe to toggle round robin mode which lets the item pipe rotate through possible destinations! Make sure you click the segment with the servo, or it will not do anything!

The Solar Panel

Solar panels come in 4 tiers, and they do what you expect: Harness energy from the sun! They will generate energy if they have a clear path to the sky, and it is daytime! Because they require totally no maitenance, they generate very little energy but what you do get is essentially free!

Thermal Generator

The Thermal Generator generates energy when it is touching lava on all sides! Beware, as it will slowly consume the lava blocks around it to generate this fuel! It comes only in 1 tier produces 20 kJ/tick and cannot be upgraded as it is also near free energy!

Hydrator

The Hydrator utilizes the process of osmosis to gather water! Requiring no energy to run, this machine can passively gather water when surrounded by water and will not consume source blocks! Useful for providing water to many machines!

The Foundry

The foundry cools liquids and converts them into solid form. For metals this does mean it will cast them into their ingot shape automatically! Remember like with all machines with a fluid widget, you can hover your mouse over the fluid indicator to learn what fluid and how much of it is in the slot if you need more specifics on the fluid! This machine does require a decent amount of energy so make sure you have lots of fuel ready, or have set up a more advanced generator!

REI Recipe Category: Casting

The Liquifier

This machine is the polar opposite of the foundry - It heats items to turn them into fluids. As of patch v2.3.0 (unreleased), this includes both ingots and ores into purified and raw forms of the metal. It essentially operates the exact opposite of the foundry! Do note that if you haven't played with the mod, you can hover over the energy meter to get more detailed information about how much energy the machine currently has and how much it can hold!

REI Recipe Category: Liquifying

The Alloyer

The alloyer is a critical block that you'll frequently use when creating more advanced tiers of items and machines. It alloys materials to create more advanced crafting materials, such as hardened glass, vysterium, endalum, and neptunium! This machine is also more costly in energy, so be prepared with lots of coal or a thermal generator to make sure you can keep this guy running!

REI Recipe Category: Alloying

The Crusher

The crusher is used in early game ore doubling: Simply place a metallic ore or perlium ore in it, and it will crush it to dust! This dust can then be smelted into ingots, allowing for a yield of double what is normally possible. It is recommended to get one of these things going as early as possible as it makes mining much easier!

REI Recipe Category: Crushing

The Pressurizer

The pressurizer harnesses the power of pistons and extreme pressure to both compress and flatten various materials. For example, the pressurizer can convert iron ingots into the very useful iron platings, or to compress coal into diamond and then compress diamond into compressed diamond. Although not needed early, it will quickly become an essential machine as you dive deeper into the mod!

REI Recipe Category: Compressing

The Distiller

The distiller is used to refine fluids, which is an important step of the triple ore processing setup! Combine some water and raw fluid, and it will refine it into the molten variant! In order to achieve 3x ore processing, you'll need to liquify the ore itself, pump that fluid into a distiller, distill it, and send the output to a foundry to convert it back to ingots!

REI Recipe Category: Distilling

The Sawmill

The sawmill converts logs and wood of all types into extra planks at the rate of 1 log to 6 planks! It additionally produces sawdust, which can be used to craft paper!

REI Recipe Category: Sawing

The Centrifuge

The centrifuge spins items at high speeds to turn them back into their components! For example, various pulverized alloys can be spun into their component metals, magma cream can be spun into slime and blaze powder, etc!

REI Recipe Category: Centrifuging

The Crafter

The crafter can be used to autocraft recipes! In order to use it, simply power it, place the item you want to be crafted in the bottom right slot, and drop ingredients into the 9 left slots and watch as the top right slot fills up with the crafted item! Works with all modded and vanilla recipes!

The Hydroponator

The hydroponator is used to simulate farming, but you'll need a steady supply of bonemeal to do much! Power it, pump water into its tank with a hydrator, and drop the crop you want to grow in the top left slot with bonemeal in the bottom left, and it'll get to work! Works with more plants than you might expect, including saplings, flowers, seeds, and more!

REI Recipe Category: Hydroponics

The Experience Bank

The experience bank allows you to store your hard earned experience in a bank, at the rate of 1 xp for 4 mB of xp! Its simple to use, just check your experience in the top right and use the negative amounts to deposit experience and the positive amounts to withdraw experience! Requires no power! In the future you'll be able to use this experience to enchant items among other things.

The Quarry

The good ol' quarry. To get this thing running, you're going to want a decent power supply and a pickaxe to dump over in the leftmost slot! Enchantments carry over when considering what mined blocks drop, so fortune and silk touch are your friend! Its very simple to use, although it can be hard to figure out where exactly its started mining for the first few minutes as sometimes it can start right below the surface!
